At the Winery
Winery
Established in 1978, and one of the region's first wineries, Heathcote Winery is located in the main street of Heathcote. In 1997 it was purchased by a group of independent wine investors led by Stephen Wilkins.
Shiraz is the cornerstone for both the Heathcote region and Heathcote Winery. The Mount Camel Range runs from Corop in the north to Tooborac in the south. Its slopes comprise rich red Cambrian soils which, with the dry mild climate, provide the perfect conditions for growing Shiraz. Heathcote Winery has two vineyards: the original 1978 Newlans Lane site, and Slaughter House Paddock. Made with minimal intervention, the wines typify Heathcote Shiraz.
Heathcote Winery's lead wine is The Wilkins Shiraz. The Origin Shiraz and Slaughterhouse Paddock Shiraz, both single vineyard wines, along with Mail Coach Shiraz, follow close behind.
